How to make a Matcha Latte

The perfect cup, the Matcha Mura way.

Whether you're starting your morning or easing into the afternoon, a matcha latte is a calm, energising way to recharge. Smooth, vibrant, and delicious — here’s how to make the perfect iced matcha latte using ceremonial-grade matcha from Uji, Kyoto.

🍵 Ingredients:

  • Organic Matcha Powder — 2 to 3 grams (about 1.5 teaspoons)

  • Warm Water — 40ml (not boiling, around 80°C)

  • Milk — 120ml (dairy or plant-based)

  • Ice Cubes — as needed

  • Liquid Sweetener — optional (like honey, agave, or simple syrup)

⚖️ Instructions:

  1. Sift your matcha.
For the smoothest texture, sift 2–3 grams of matcha into a bowl or cup using a fine mesh strainer. This removes any clumps.

  2. Whisk with warm water.
Add 40ml of warm (not hot!) water to the matcha. Using a bamboo whisk (chasen) or milk frother, whisk until the matcha is fully dissolved and a light froth forms on top.

  3. Sweeten to taste.
Add a few drops of your preferred liquid sweetener. This step is optional — high-quality matcha is naturally sweet and umami-rich.

  4. Add ice and milk.
Fill your glass with ice cubes. Pour in 120ml of cold milk, then gently top with your whisked matcha.

  5. Stir & enjoy.
Give it a gentle stir or leave it layered for that iconic matcha latte look. Sip slowly. Breathe deeply. Repeat as needed.

🌟 Matcha Mura Tip:

Use the best matcha you can find. That’s why we only source single-origin, first-harvest ceremonial-grade matcha from Uji — for a latte that’s smooth, naturally sweet, and vibrant green.
